What if your father became your child? That’s the central question behind “A Filha do Pai” (The Father’s Daughter), a moving and sensitive autobiographical fiction that will be performed in a single session on March 15th at 6:30 PM at Copacabana Fort, in Rio de Janeiro. Written and performed by Hissa de Urkiola, the piece is a delicate production, with moments of music and dance, exploring themes of love, ancestry, and the complexities of human relationships.
On stage, the audience will be transported on a journey of emotions and humor. The show makes it clear that, ultimately, all stories are love stories. More than just entertaining, “A Filha do Pai” invites the audience to reflect on the bonds that unite us, the power of our emotional choices, and the cultural heritage we carry. With sensitivity and humor, the play captures the richness of human connections and highlights that, even in the most unusual situations, there is room for acceptance, learning, and love.

About the Show
“A Filha do Pai” tells the story of a woman who, while seeking to fulfill her dream of adopting a child, ends up having to care for her own father due to urgent circumstances in life. The narrative, filled with moments of sensitivity and humor, comes alive with scenes featuring the violin, dance, and song.
This work marks a special moment in the trajectory of the Curta com Teatro project, which has been running since 2013 at Copacabana Fort. For the first time, the project presents a contemporary and original text, the result of a collaborative effort between Hissa de Urkiola, in Rio de Janeiro, and director Dionis Tavares, in São Paulo. The play was developed essentially remotely, demonstrating the power of creativity and art as a bridge across borders.
